Large-billed Tern - Summertime on the Shoreline
A bird a day keeps the chaos away

FAMILY: Laridae
Southwest Florida Coast, summer birds edition
I don’t know about you, but when someone tells me the identification is “unmistakable” it means for me, it is, in fact, mistakeable. If I saw a bunch of terns and gulls, I am going to mis-ID half of them and cause my husband a large amount of frustration. I just make the posts. I’m no expert. /laughs
Also, it appears this guy is taking a cat nap.
Unmistakable large noisy tern, with a long, thick yellow bill, black crown, three-toned wings (black outer wing, pale middle, and gray inner wing), and a gray tail. Juveniles have a browner crown and wings. Found along large rivers and lakes and seasonally on the coast.
